cupcake camp TO!Posted by: Suresh in City Cravings, Food, Photoshoots, Things about Toronto, tags: , cupcake, Things about Toronto
You would think that we would be sick of this cupcake fad already. The trend started a few years ago when boutique bakeries in Manhattan and LA started selling (and viciously competing) gourmet cupcakes. The gals from Sex & the City took several bites – the rest is history. The trend took a while to hit Toronto, but it did and had similar effects. Lately though it seems that maybe we got sick of these sugary treats? Or did we? Over 350 strong turned out yesterday to prove that cupcakes do make the world go round. Jump for pics, and….Video!… Read the rest of this entry »

More cupcakesPosted by: Suresh in Food, Things about Toronto, tags: cupcake, Food, recipe, spotlight, Things about TorontoI was reading the cupcake roundup that we did for Spotlight today. So many colourful photos and buttercream treats. I had fun scouring the streets and the net for cupcake stores in Toronto, then heading out on the weekends to taste these recommended treats. I also found out that there is a online cupcake niche. A series of cupcake manufacturers that only deal online, catering to special occasions and business functions. I forget the number of parties I’ve been to this summer where cupcakes or their mini versions were part of the catering. We’re obsessed with cupcakes, and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to end anytime soon!. We’re working on part 2, exploring this online market at the stores we missed in Mississauga. Here’s the main article;

Quit the facade..Posted by: Suresh in Things about Toronto, Tirades, tags: Things about Toronto, whining, winter
I’m just saying — bring winter already if we’re going to have such shitty weather in August. I’ve had enough of this Arctic August. This entire summer has been very disappointing weather wise. Bring forth the winter so at least I don’t feel like I’m being ripped off when I step outside with just a tshirt mid August.

Weekend rundownPosted by: Suresh in Photoshoots, Things about Toronto, Touristy stuff, tags: , beerfest, danforth, summer, Things about Toronto, velvet revolver
I think I’ve finally recovered from the weekend. Yes it was a lot of fun, but also quite tiring considering I’ve just managed to regain my strength from being bedridden for a few days…. There were a lot of events in Toronto. Taste of the Danforth (A festival celebrating the multiculturalism of a neighborhood in Toronto highlighted by food, music and corporate sponsorship), the Hot & Spicy Food festival, and the Beer Festival. I set out a list and managed to get everything done. Instead of duplicating the entry, I’ll just point you to the write-up on my other pet project regarding the weekend activities. The beer fest was fun, but under the Red Stripe tent it was simply awesome. Considering it rained the entire day, everyone that managed to find the Red Stripe tent were too busy partying and drinking to give a shit. There was a great vibe because of great music and energetic staff. Albert and his gang also kept serving some delicious Jamaican treats which sealed the deal. Everyone that I spoke to said it was easily the most enjoyable part of the festival. The velvet revolver show was incredible. It was a trip down memory lane seeing Alice in Chains perform and then the re-grouping of GNR and STP. These guys are one of the biggest rock bands out there right now in terms of experience and history, and I don’t know how Scott can sound so incredible live after all the years of drugs and alcohol. Slash is my guitar hero, seeing him live again was a memorable experience. |
